Hong Kong-based artist duo IHAVENTSTARTEDEITHER. With vastly different personalities and past experiences, the collective Tiffany Law and Sami Lee have contrasting rationales in art practices whilst sharing similar artistic visions.

Since both graduating from the Academy of Visual Arts of Hong Kong Baptist University in 2016, the duo continued to launch collaborative projects, including jointly curated exhibitions “- -/- -/- -” (2017), “Observe / Scrutinise / Perceive” (Gallery Exit, 2018) and “Bland Blank” (2019) as part of Hong Kong Arts Centre’s “Creators for Tomorrow Project 2019”. In 2021, they were shortlisted in the Tai Kwun Artists’ Studio Programme to create the residency project “20202” they quarantined in the studio for 7 days, coexisted with conditions of "unusualness" and "normality", positioned themselves between the state of adaptation and confrontation. Together, they reexamine the minute in everyday life and seek moments of sparks and resonance, which they then share with others through the common language of art.

<mailing>

While society emphasizes time as ours, its structure imposes a timeline on us. Mailing a letter is the least efficient communication method. With a text taking milliseconds, time seems detached from distance. As we indulge in convenience, we lose grip of time. In mailing the artists aim to decompress time, revisiting longing, uncertainty, and waiting without tracking.
